The best time to post on social media in 2026

When it comes to the best time to post, we usually want one simple answer: “Post at 6 PM - that’s the best time to publish.” But in reality, there is no universal best time.

Social media users behave differently. For example, activity on the same platform can change depending on the month, day of the week, and time of day. That’s why we decided not to look for the one “perfect hour”, but instead compare which days and times users are most likely to interact with posts and how to use this information for your own accounts.

For this, we used Popsters data for several social networks: Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, and Telegram. For each platform, Popsters shows audience activity by day of the week and by hour.

It is important to keep in mind that if your audience is most active in the evening, this does not mean that every post published in the evening will automatically be successful. The results depend not only on the time of publication, but also on the content itself, its format, audience size, and many other factors.

That’s why it is better to use these data as a guide when creating your content plan.

*data is current as of August 2026.

How has audience activity changed since 2022?

In the Popsters 2022 study, 240 million posts from 937 thousand pages across 8 social networks were analyzed. Let’s compare these data with more recent Popsters Stats data for August 2026 to see how the days and hours of highest audience activity have changed over this period.

If we look at the Instagram data for the two periods, the changes are quite noticeable. In the 2022 study, Friday was the most active day, and the main peak occurred between 11:00 and 18:00 (with the highest point at 17:00). In July 2026, the highest activity is recorded on Wednesday at 13:00.

This change may be related to the fact that Instagram itself has changed over the years. For example, new content formats have appeared, and more attention has been given to Reels and recommendations. Users have also changed their habits and may now use the app at different times. As a result, the time of highest activity may have changed as well.

The changes are also noticeable on Telegram. In the 2022 study, the highest activity was recorded on Wednesday and Thursday, while the peak time was 15:00. In August 2026, the peak falls on Wednesday at 17:00.

The results may have been influenced by changes to the platform itself and its audience. Over the years, Telegram has grown, new content formats have emerged, and user habits have changed.

All of this may have affected the days and times when users are most likely to interact with posts.

How does activity change throughout the week?

If we look at user activity across the week, the overall picture is also different.

On Instagram, activity peaks on Wednesday and Thursday. It remains fairly high at the beginning of the week, then drops noticeably toward Friday and Sunday. The lowest activity is on Sunday.

On Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram, activity remains fairly stable throughout the weekdays and drops slightly on weekends. On Facebook, the highest activity is on Friday, on TikTok — on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Telegram — on Wednesday.

On X, the highest activity is on Monday. After that, activity decreases and then rises slightly again toward Friday.

On YouTube, activity remains the most stable throughout the week. The figures change very little, with a small peak on Thursday.

It turns out that user activity can vary noticeably across different social networks even within the same week, so it is important to consider the day of the week when planning your content.

Should you change posting times for different social networks?

If you publish content across several social networks, you don’t have to post it at the same time everywhere. According to Popsters, audiences on different platforms are more active at different times, so you can adjust your posting schedule for each platform.

For example, if the best time for one social network is in the morning and for another it is in the evening, you can spread your posts throughout the day.

How to find the best time for your account?

  1. Look at the data for your social network

Choose several of the most active days and times on Popsters and use them as a starting point. For example, for Instagram, you can start with Wednesday at 13:00, and for YouTube — Thursday at 18:00.

  1. Choose several suitable days and times

Try posting content in the morning, afternoon, and evening, as well as on different days of the week. This will make it easier to understand when your audience responds to your posts best.

  1. Test the selected times

Publish content on the selected days and at the selected times for several weeks.

Don’t draw conclusions from a single post, as its results may depend on the topic, format, or the content itself. Give each option several tries so that the comparison is more objective.

  1. Compare the results and choose the best time

Compare the results of your posts and pay attention not only to likes, but also to comments, shares, saves, and other reactions.

If posts published at the same time show good results several times, try using this time more often.

  1. Check the results regularly

Your audience changes over time, so check your post performance regularly. If your usual posting time stops working, try different days and times.

Conclusion

When creating a content plan, it is important to consider not only the content of your posts, but also when they are published. Popsters data helps you see when users of different social networks are most active and use this information when planning your content.

Compare these data with your own account statistics to find the posting schedule that works best for you over time.
